A Society Without Signals
We live in a society without signals. How
many people turn their car right in front of you and never signal a turn? Take a personal
survey....50%-75%-95%......? How about people that cut you off on major highways at high speed....or beep the horn when you missed a light change by two seconds! Then there are those that do not honor Pedestrian Signs in crosswalks....they would rather hit you than allow you to cross safely in a designated crossing area. We are a
society without signals. Society has become consumed in self; wealth; and
social status. PowerBall reaches over a billion dollars and lines develop
around the block to buy a ticket FOR instantaneous wealth and power. How many
lives have been ruined by Lotto Mega Jackpots?
I am not against people wanting to find their dream. I question what value have we placed on material at the sacrifice of forgetting basic human values.
A good samaritan straphanger known only as “Jay” gave a shivering, shirtless man his shirt and hat to keep the him warm on a Brooklyn-bound A train last week during a frigid evening in NYC.
After spending time with his girlfriend, Lazaro Nolasco said he boarded the train at Washington Heights and watched the good deed unfold during the long stretch between 125th and 59th streets 10 p.m. Friday.
“It was just us on the train,” said Nolasco, whose video of the encounter went viral.
“The guy didn’t have a shirt on,” he told the Daily News. “His body looked sick.”
This blog is not about judging. It is a blog that shows the "Good News" ------ONE person who found his turn signal of compassion; turned it on; and helped a person in need.
I have spoken many time about a "faceless society" where man only sees himself in the mirror....no one else can be seen. His is the only face. "To often we forget the power of a touch; a smile; a kind word; a listening ear; an honest compliment; or the smallest act of caring....all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
