Dr. George Whitney dies at age 94 in Vermont A True  Connecticut Veterinary Legend Veterinary Medicine loses an icon but his memory will always  captivate our hearts! “It is never too late to be what you might have been.”  ―  George Eliot It is impossible to describe veterinary legend, Dr. George Whitney, in a few paragraphs.  George Eliot probably states it the best....."It is never too late to be what you might have been!" Dr. Whitney and I first crossed passed when I was a freshman veterinary doctor "wet behind the ears" and he was a senior practitioner of 53 years of age in Orange, CT.  He drew me to his practice in Orange, CT and treated me like a son.  He never wanted to go backward........... but wanted to learn from me all of the new medical technology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  He explained cases to me as the country doctor would explain those same cases to an intern at Yale-New Haven Hospital.   His trademarks were

What better day to return than on Valentine's Day 2013.  There is so much controversy over this holiday.  Some feel it is overdone.   Others feel it is a  capitalism-created holiday for corporations and the world of business to line their pockets through;expensive dinners and fine wines; gifts of jewelry; greeting cards; flowers; chocolates; etc. etc. etc. To give you my opinion as Animal Doc AM, I want to share a short story.  A very special friend gave me a sticker a few days ago that she was given to her by an acquaintance..it reads "Kindness Matters!" The preoccupation with Valentine's Day giving would become a forgotten problem if "Kindness Matters" was the way we treated our loved ones all year long. Th
