Commentary by Dr. Don DeForge
In the weeks ahead my new BLOG Good News and Happy Days 2015 will lighten your hearts and bring you hope in a world that is very negative and consumed with NEWS each night about the bad; the ugly; the violent; the criminal; the self-centered; and the pain creators.  You will find none of that in Good News and Happy Days 2015.  In the days ahead, you will read wonderful stores of people helping people; and companions from the Animal Kingdom making the lives of their human caretakers very special.

Why these stories are the minority in television; radio; and social media is quite simple.  They do not sell and are not attention getters!  There are wonderful media outlets where these stories are added to the NEWS of the day.  Unfortunately, they are only "glimpses" or "sound-bites" and not features.  In Good News and Happy Days 2015 these stories will be FEATURES.  When you are feeling down and need a lift...... look for my BLOG and my research to bring to you a breath of fresh air and a caffeine-nicotine free stimulant of love.

It is free and it is a gift to you. It was once told to me that change is the end result of all learning.
Hopefully these features will make you change and search for ways to help others.  Maybe they will remove you from "self" preoccupation to "other" sharing and helping.  You do not need to read into these stories.  They are real and are happening around us each day.  They are much like the weed that grows with a beautiful flower as part of its foliage.  Do we want to see the weed or is it better to take a moment and see the majesty of the flower.  Life is full of choices.  We can hurt or we can help.  We can steal or we can give.  We can laugh or we can cry.  Leo Buscaglia taught me.."choose love and choose life".  Welcome to Good News and Happy Days 2015.  Below read about "Dood" and Cassidy Williams.  A tear will come to your eye as your read about this cancer victim.  Along with that tear be uplifted by the power of the Human-Animal Bond.  See what one person does to share the unconditional love provided by their special friend.

Dog With Only Days Left To Live Sees The Ocean For The First Time, Has The Time Of His Life

August 25, 2015--From Sunny Skyz

When Cassidy Williams adopted her five year-old golden retriever, Dood, she said it was love at first sight. So when Dood was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer in July, Williams and her family were devastated.

Williams was planning on getting married to her fiance on the beach in Oregon, but Dood was at home in Utah.
Her father decided to cancel his flight and make the 13-hour drive from Utah to Oregon with Dood. The dog would be the ring bearer and catch a glimpse of the ocean for the first - and the last - time.

Dood had never been outside their home state of Utah before. At first, he was unsure of what to do, but when he got used to the water, he had the time of his life.
"He was so happy, he had so much energy," Williams said, "He did a fantastic job as the ring bearer."

Although Williams and her family are heartbroken over the loss of their dog, she said the moments, the pictures and Dood's reaction "were so priceless."

Commentary by Dr. Don DeForge continued:
"Dood" has been lost but the memories cannot be eliminated.  We have all lost family members; friends; and companions.  I miss parents and brothers and other relatives.  Just two years ago my special feline friend was lost from cardiac disease at a young age.  These are difficult losses.  I am sustained by their memories and the strength they have brought to me to challenge adversity.  I am not saying it was easy but the reward of knowing "Dood" even for a short time in life cannot be measured in real terms.  It goes far beyond!

“If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.”
