Don DeForge, VMD Silver Sands Veterinary Center  31October2015 FINDING RESPECT IN 2015 We are a society without respect!  It has been lost in the home; schools; the workplace; and in our daily interactions with others.  We have created a culture of finding ways to take advantage of others for our own benefit. We have found ways to use the Internet to bully and attack which is easily labeled as criminal.  Children and adults commit suicide because of harassment at school; in the workplace; and in social media. In sports, young athletes are told to win at any cost without any appreciation for good sportsmanship and fair play.  Sports figures are no longer heroes but drug addicts; alcoholics; wife beaters; and PED advocates.  Movies sell that push violence; torture; pain; and repetitious sexual scenarios.  Pornography can be found easily by youth and is visualized by them on their Smart phones on a daily basis. At Mrs. Jones party her aged companion, "Dukey" got up with difficulty and walked into the family room.  One of her guests said, "what is wrong with Dukey?"  Mrs. Jones answered, "guess he is just getting old." If we want to make our pets "Golden years GOLDEN", we must do more than excuse abnormal behavior as "just getting old!" Visit your veterinarian and find out why your pet is slowing down.  Many times a physical exam with a few basic lab tests or an x-ray can pinpoint the reason for your pet's poor quality of life.   As we age, we seek a quality of life by consulting with many physicians. Don DeForge, VMD Silver Sands Veterinary Center "It ain't over till It is over"  Yogi Berra "I really didn't say everything I said" Yogi and Don Larsen after Larsen pitched a perfect game in the 1956 World Series Commentary by Dr. DeForge: Yogi Berra is one of my heroes.  Yogi passed from this world September 22nd-2015 but he will always be with us.  A War HERO; a great Major League Baseball player and manager; and in his later years a philanthropist.  He loved kids and was a role model in all that he accomplished.  I keep a short list of heroes in my life.  I am fortunate to have on that list parents; siblings, wife, and children.  Not many can say all of those were heroes in their journey.  Others on the list I have met on my journey and others I never met but they in some major way have influenced my life, my actions, and my beliefs.   Yogi was humble and giving.  He was given great talent but never abused that talent with egocent
